Sweet Peas

I love the fact that you have to keep picking sweet peas. As if anyone needs encouraging?

Gathering them in the rain earlier really brightened up my day. They looked incredibly feeble until recently, but the sunshine (remember that?) has obviously done them the world of good.

These are ‘Painted Lady’, ‘Anniversary’ and ‘Mrs Collier’ from Sarah Raven’s ‘Opal’ collection, along with a couple of sprigs of the gorgeously zesty Alchemilla mollis.

Given my rookie gardener status, I bought the sweet peas as plugs as I didn’t want to overstretch myself with too many seed trays. However later this year I’m definitely going to try growing them from scratch as it is so much cheaper.
