If you’ve wondered where I’ve been for the last few weeks then the title says it all really, although strictly speaking it should read ‘South & North’ (but then that didn’t have quite the same ring to it).
At the end of July we spent a week in Cornwall with friends where we explored beaches, gorged on amazing seafood (I can highly recommend Sam’s on the Beach at Polkerris), took a boat trip around Fowey Harbour and visited the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth.
After conquering the laundry mountain generated by that holiday, the kids and I packed our bags again last week and joined my parents on a trip up to Northumberland to visit my grandparents. Cue more feasting (this time on delicious ice cream from Spurelli in Amble and freshly-made fish and chips next to the harbour – eaten in that order I might add), lovely walks along the windswept beaches of Low Hauxley and Alnmouth and visits to both Hadrian’s Wall and Warkworth Castle.
It’s been a wonderful summer so far and the adventures aren’t over yet either so I’m signing off again for a couple of weeks and will be back in earnest once the kids return to school.
Enjoy the rest of the summer… x
