Flowers from the Garden

Flowers in vase

My parents are joining us for the weekend and I’ve put this little posy of flowers from the garden in the guest bedroom for them to enjoy. It looks really pretty, even if I do say so myself.

There isn’t a huge amount in bloom outside, but, alongside what I *think* are white azaleas, I’ve used some flowers that I found growing wild in the more overgrown parts: frothy cow parsley, purple bugle, and the little starry flowers of greater stitchwort.

I had to identify the latter two online which was obviously fairly straightforward, however I’ve resolved to get myself a little wildflower book like the one below as I think the botanical drawings, especially in vintage editions, are just exquisite.

I’m planning to to enjoy our garden as much as possible over the weekend, and hope you have a great Bank Holiday too, whatever you have planned. x

What a coincidence, I bought an old flower guide book yesterday from a fusty old bookshop on Gloucester Road! I love the old pictures too.

Such a pretty posy! A few garden flowers are the best way to welcome guests.
