It’s feeling properly autumnal today; there’s a slight nip in the air, the leaves are whirling around in the wind and the trees are beginning to bare their branches again. In pudding terms, that means one thing: Crumble.
I usually use this recipe from Waitrose for my crumble topping as I love the crunch of the demerara sugar and the texture of the rolled oats. Mixing it by hand seems to give better results than using a processor, but maybe that’s just me?
I tend to vary the fruit inside each time, but roughly keep to the same quantity. Most recently, I tried plums and apples with the addition of a ball of finely chopped stem ginger which was really delicious.
It’s going to be comfort food all the way this weekend in our house. What’s your favourite recipe of the season?
